EMPTINESS (KU ‘空‘)
As a visual species much of what we know of the world and consequently our actions within our environment are informed by what we see which posed the question, do our eyes hide as much of the world from us as much as they reveal?

Made during the development stages of ‘Silent Conversations’ this short film bridges the gap between between my research into acoustic ecology and on previous research conducted when writing my dissertation focusing on the varying constructions and applications of eyes present across the animal kingdom.

In an attempt to further understand how one can recognise place ‘Emptiness’ ‘空’ (KU) sees the viewer gradually transition from an image led world of clarity to one of rhythmic sensitivity before venturing into emptiness filled with white as focus draws through the canopy.

For best viewing this film should be watched in a dark space.

Film, silent, 6 minutes 26 seconds
