OUR SPACE MAKING PROCESS
In the making of ‘Our Space’ I worked with metal for the first time. Marking out and hand cutting the forms using handheld tools only and the rolling the walls gradually to uniformly remove tension from the individual sheets to ensure the spot welds stayed together and weren’t under unnecessary pressure from the panels. The edges were then sealed before applying a black rust resistant coating to prevent the dish from corroding when filled with water. The black was chosen to help increase the contrast in the reflections cast onto the wall.
After having made the dish the dripping pot was then constructed using left over material with weights cut to fit into thee base which then had the center drilled out to keep the container level and steady as the water level dropped inside.
