CARDBOARD PAVILION

The following photos and notes pages document the process of making the installation space for the Chelsea College of Arts Degree show 2025. Moving from a cylindrical structure to an euclidean rectangular structure the process was dependant upon working with the limited materials to create the most efficent use of space and excess materials possible. Various iterations were assembled (with the boxes not bonded together) to explore how different configurations and orientations of stacking affected stability. Mimicking the effects of an anechoic chamber the boxes were all folded in at a fixed angle on one face to jointly improve sound quality and rigidity.

On sit the construction was simple and required minimal resources to assemble and was adjustable to suit the space. After the show was finished the structure was deconstructed and all materials were either re-purposed by other art students at Chelsea or recycled. Importantly, no materials in this project were single use.
